Our Mission as an Organization 

The Housing Authority of the City of Springfield, Missouri, (H.A.S. Properties) is committed to providing quality, affordable housing that is decent and safe to eligible families in the community. We strive to make the best use of all available resources so that our residents may live in an environment that is clean, well-maintained and attractive.

Our goal is to manage our public housing units in a manner that is consistent with good, financially sound property management practices. By taking advantage of available community and government resources, we intend to provide our residents with as many opportunities for economic self-sufficiency as we can identify. 


We endeavor to instill pride and a desire for an enhanced quality of life for our residents and their families. We are committed to serving our residents and this entire community in a manner that demonstrates professional courtesy, respect and caring.

Where we Receive Funding

Funding for the operation of public housing comes primarily from your tax dollars as administered though the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Capital Fund and from rents collected.


We do not provide emergency housing, emergency assistance for rent or utility payments or home buying programs. The Housing Authority does not house any person subject to a sex offender registration requirement or who has ever been convicted of manufacturing or producing methamphetamine. This is the Housing Authority's policy based on guidelines published in the Federal Register.
