PHA ANNUAL/FIVE YEAR PLAN NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 2026
In Accordance with the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act, Notice is hereby given that public comment will be received on the Housing Authority of the City of Springfield MO’s Annual and Five-Year Plan proposed updates for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026. The draft plan was available for review beginning Tuesday, March 3rd , 2026 through Friday, April 17th. This draft plan is available for review at the HAS Property Office, 421 W. Madison, Springfield MO. Between the hours of 10:00 am – 2:00 PM CST, ask for Regina. The review period ends April 17th at 8:30 AM CST. The Public Hearing to receive all comments will be held on April 17th, 2026 at 9:00 AM CST at the Madison Tower Community Room, 421 W. As the Housing Authority of the City of Springfield, Missouri, H.A.S. Properties is committed to providing safe, decent, and affordable housing to eligible families within the city limits of Springfield.
Funding from the federal government allows us to charge rent based on income, creating several public housing options for individuals and families in the low and very low-income bracket. These options are public housing and Section 8.
Qualifications and What to Expect
With either housing rental program H.A.S. Properties has, you can expect to pay approximately 30 percent of your adjusted gross income for rent and utilities.
To qualify for public housing, your gross income must fall within the low-income guidelines. Anyone within six months of turning 18 years old and who falls within the income guidelines may apply. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to sign a lease.
